Tours
People come to this area to visit
the dessert and you can do this in a variety of ways. Riad Marrat
are pleased to arrange your tours around the
area.

|
- Rent a 4 x 4 W jeep with driver and guide. Go
off road into the Pistes that are non official roads leading
through the dessert to different tourist high spots such as the
high sand dunes, and far away places where Touarek people are
still living in their tents.

- Rent a camel, and follow a guide who will
walk in front of the camel through the palm plantation and the
dessert. You can choose to go for just an hour, a half day that
will include lunch. A special trip is the night tour complete with
musicians. You will sit on a beautiful Moroccan carpet under the
stars with musicians playing traditional Moroccan music enjoying
local drink eating delicious food prepared by Riad Marat.
- Jeep or car can take you further
south. Visit Tamgeroute where you will find a very old library
filled with Arabic books and ancient Koran’s. The last village
reachable by main road is M’Hamid near the border of Algeria. You
will find houses almost hidden in the dessert surrounded by a few
palm trees. See the highest sand dunes in South Morocco. If you
are lucky, you will sight some of the last existing famous ‘Blue
Men’ who are people that used to travel through the dessert by
camel in a caravan in search of merchandise such as gold, textiles
and other exotic treasures.
- Rent a motor bike from the Riad
Marat to explore by your self. The roads are very quiet and you
will feel quite secure and safe.
